Description

Apple Cider Glazed Roasted Chicken is a flavorful and juicy roast chicken recipe featuring a sweet-tart glaze made from apple cider vinegar, maple syrup (natural), and vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural). Enhanced with fresh herbs, garlic, and a natural gelling agent, this dish offers a perfect balance of savory and sweet, ideal for family dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken (3 to 4 pounds), fresh
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar (natural)
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup (natural)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 2 teaspoons natural gelling agent
  • 4 garlic cloves, smashed
  • 3 to 4 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preparing the Chicken: Pat the whole chicken dry with paper towels to help the skin crisp when roasting. Season the chicken generously inside and out with salt and black pepper. Stuff the cavity with smashed garlic cloves and fresh thyme sprigs. Drizzle olive oil over the exterior and rub gently into the skin for an even coating.
  2. Making the Apple Cider Glaze: In a small saucepan, combine apple cider vinegar (natural), maple syrup (natural), vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), and a pinch of natural gelling agent. Heat gently while stirring constantly until the mixture reduces and thickens to a shiny, sticky consistency. Remove from heat and set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Roasting the Chicken: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the chicken breast-side up on a roasting rack inside a pan to allow even heat circulation. Roast for about 45 minutes. Then begin brushing the apple cider glaze over the chicken skin every 10 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked through and the skin is golden and sticky. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  4. Resting and Serving: Remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 10 to 15 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute. Carve and serve warm with any extra glaze on the side for an irresistible finish.

Notes

  • Let chicken sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before roasting for even cooking.
  • Apply glaze multiple times during roasting to build a rich, sticky crust.
  • Use a thermometer to ensure the chicken is cooked to 165°F (74°C) internally.
  • Rest the chicken before carving for maximum tenderness.
  • Placing garlic and herbs inside the cavity infuses subtle flavors throughout the meat.
