Description

Enjoy a quick and flavorful Beef And Broccoli Lo Mein recipe with fresh broccoli, tender beef strips, and soft lo mein noodles tossed in a savory, balanced sauce. Perfect for easy weeknight dinners or meal prep, this dish offers a vibrant mix of textures and a comforting homemade taste.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef and Vegetables

  • 300g lean beef strips (sirloin or flank steak), thinly sliced
  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)

Noodles

  • 200g lo mein noodles

Sauce

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (natural)
  • 1 tbsp vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (natural)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (natural), plus extra for cooking
  • 1/2 tsp natural gelling agent (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Thinly slice the beef against the grain for tenderness. Chop broccoli into small florets. Mince garlic and ginger. Boil the lo mein noodles according to package instructions until al dente; drain and set aside.
  2. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce (natural), vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), apple cider vinegar, brown sugar (natural), sesame oil (natural), and the natural gelling agent if using. Set aside.
  3. Cook the Beef: Heat a large pan or wok over medium-high heat with a splash of sesame oil (natural). Add beef strips and cook quickly until browned and juicy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from pan and set aside.
  4. Sauté the Broccoli and Aromatics: In the same pan, add a bit more sesame oil (natural). Stir-fry broccoli florets for 3-4 minutes until crisp-tender. Add garlic and ginger and stir constantly to avoid burning while releasing their aroma.
  5. Combine Everything: Return beef to the pan along with cooked noodles. Pour the sauce over all ingredients and toss thoroughly to coat evenly. Heat through and allow sauce to thicken slightly for a glossy finish.

Notes

  • Use high heat to sear beef and keep broccoli crisp.
  • Slice beef thinly for faster cooking and tenderness.
  • Do not overcook noodles; keep them slightly firm.
  • Chop vegetables and prepare sauce ahead to reduce cooking time.
  • Fresh garlic and ginger significantly enhance flavor.
