Caramel Glaze Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup coconut cream
  • 1 teaspoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (natural)
  • 1 teaspoon natural gelling agent

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Warm the plant-based milk slightly, then dissolve the active dry yeast with a pinch of brown sugar. Allow it to activate until frothy, about 10 minutes. In a large bowl, combine the flour, remaining brown sugar, and sea salt. Add the yeast mixture and softened plant-based butter. Knead the mixture until the dough is smooth and elastic. Cover and place it in a warm spot to rise until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.
  2. Make the Caramel Glaze: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the plant-based butter with brown sugar and coconut cream. Stir in vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), sea salt, vanilla extract (natural), and the natural gelling agent. Cook while stirring until the glaze thickens and becomes glossy. Set aside to cool slightly.
  3. Assemble the Rolls: Roll out the risen dough into a large rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Spread a generous layer of the caramel glaze evenly over the dough. Optionally, sprinkle with nuts, spices, or dried fruit. Roll the dough tightly from the long side into a log. Using a sharp knife, slice the log into even rounds and place them spaced apart in a greased baking dish.
  4. Bake to Perfection: Cover the dish lightly and let the rolls rise again until puffy, about 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until they turn golden brown and gooey. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
