Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
  • 3/4 cup almond flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons natural gelling agent

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup plant-based chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (natural)
  • 1 teaspoon vegetarian Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (natural)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Pan and Ingredients: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal. Measure out oats, almond flour, and other dry ingredients to keep things organized.
  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine old-fashioned oats, almond flour, sea salt, and the natural gelling agent. This mixture forms the base texture ensuring the bars hold together after baking.
  3. Melt and Combine Wet Ingredients: In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the coconut oil and plant-based chocolate chips together until smooth and silky. Remove from heat, then stir in maple syrup (natural), apple cider vinegar, vegetarian Worcestershire sauce, and vanilla extract (natural), blending evenly.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Pour the chocolate mixture into the bowl with dry ingredients, folding gently until all oats are coated and the batter is thick but spreadable, giving it a chewy character.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the edges turn golden and the center is set but still soft. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan for clean slicing.
  6. Slice and Enjoy: Once cooled, lift the bars using the parchment paper, cut into squares or rectangles, and serve. The bars hold their shape well due to the natural gelling agent.

Notes

  • Use fresh old-fashioned oats for best chewiness; avoid instant oats if possible.
  • Remove the bars from the oven when they are just set to maintain soft, fudgy texture.
  • Chill bars before slicing for cleaner cuts and less crumbling.
  • Adjust maple syrup to your desired sweetness easily.
  • Use high quality plant-based chocolate chips for rich flavor.
