Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp and Protein

  • 1 pound fresh or frozen peeled shrimp

Pasta and Liquids

  • 8 ounces linguine or spaghetti
  • 4 cups vegetable broth
  • 2 tablespoons vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Flavorings and Seasonings

  • 3 tablespoons plant-based butter
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Herbs and Garnish

  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • Lemon wedges, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Sauté the Garlic and Shrimp: Melt the plant-based butter in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add the minced fresh garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add the shrimp and cook until pink and opaque, about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Remove the shrimp and set aside to keep tender.
  2. Add Liquid and Pasta: Pour vegetable broth, vegetarian Worcestershire sauce (natural), and lemon juice into the skillet. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Add the pasta ensuring it is submerged in the liquid. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Cook until the pasta is al dente, usually about 10 to 12 minutes depending on pasta type.
  3. Combine and Simmer: Once pasta is cooked and most liquid absorbed, stir in the cooked shrimp to reheat. Add red pepper flakes if desired and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Allow to simmer together for a couple minutes to blend flavors.
  4. Finish with Herbs and Serve: Turn off heat and sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the pasta. Toss gently and serve hot, garnished with lemon wedges if desired.

Notes

  • Don’t overcook shrimp to keep them tender.
  • Stir the pasta gently and regularly while it cooks to prevent clumping.
  • Use fresh garlic and lemon juice for optimal flavor.
  • A wide skillet with tall sides helps cook ingredients evenly.
  • Add broth gradually to achieve the perfect sauce consistency and cooked pasta.
